Back in 91, during the first years of my own experience with graffiti i had the chance to put my hands on a videograff with him in it droppin some crazy throwies and handstyles. So i’ve digged in my video collection and found that sequence. here’s the footage and a small selection of pictures from the man. -KoolFunc’88

CALAVERAS AT THE “VANITY” EXHIBITION (PARIS 2010)

If you haven’t already take a tour to the “Vanités” Exhibition in Paris at the Maillol Museum, don’t hesitate and go as soon as you can. It’s a great event which gain a very serious success since the opening. The exib runs till the 28th of June 2010. My friend and talented illustrator Benoit Galeron got his work showed-up at the museum entrance (the shop) and you can cop his screen-printed portfolio which contains 10 great personal representations of the mexican-inspired “Calaveras”. An official T-shirt is also available (it’s already a heavy seller!)…If you want one and cant make it to the museum contact me directly, all the money will go directly to the artist.  “Keep Reading” for a sample of his portfolio. – KoolFunc’88

THE NATAS KAUPAS GRAFIC SERIES

Yes i know it’s a classic topic, but that serie is a must. I talk about the Natas Kaupas Skateboard decks serie between 1985 & 1990 back when the guy was like one of the most famous street rider, well known for his monstruous ollies and easy wall riding. All those models were released under the SMA (Santa Monica Airlines) label, a division of Santa Cruz, NHS. One more time the original idea of using a panther will be the basement of all the variations during 5 years. The first and original design was handled by Kevin Ancell and Natas, then will be updated by Chris Buchinsky the next year and completely remake by Jim Phillips in 1987. At the same time Wes Humpston delivered his own interpretation in the classic Venice fashion way. The next years, Chris Buchinsky, Justin Forbes, Jimbo Phillips and Natas himself have worked on the “Panther” Grafics. The last one was done by Erik Brunetti and ended the serie with a grafic showing up all other previous models buried in tombstones. In 5 Years, more than 10 different boards were released as Natas was a fuckin’ famous and legendary skate rider. Nowadays every re-issue of any of those decks were instantly sold-out. The last in date was the Humpston one, the better in my opinion. -KoolFunc’88

T.I.T.S PIMP GEAR

I have always thinking that sex sells a lot more than everything, even in a financial crisis time, the porn industry already know that for a long and still the most valuable dvd seller. But it’s not my point of interest right here…I just want to spotlight a brand which take the “sex sells” as a lead and make it work for “street wear”. T.I.T.S aka Two In The Shirt has based his artistic direction only on sexy girls pictures featuring pornstars and erotic models. The fact is they were the first on that terrain and be copycated by numerous other brand since then, so i think they’ve done a great job. I love their concept that consist of letting the people choose the picture which make the final cut on the products.(Great marketing and selling key!).They have worked with Estevan Oriol for the next serie. I will never bought that kind of t-shirt but i think the concept is clever and original, so here’s a few visuals from em’. -KoolFunc’88
